One of the main dishes Oregon is famous for is Dungeness Crab. This seafood delicacy is especially popular along the Oregon coast. The crab is often enjoyed in a variety of ways, such as in a Dungeness Crab Boil, where the crab is cooked with potatoes, corn, and spices, or simply steamed and served with melted butter1.
Dungeness Crab Boil
Ingredients:
4 whole Dungeness crabs
1/2 cup Old Bay seasoning
2 lemons, halved
4 ears of corn, cut into halves
1 lb small red potatoes
1 lb smoked sausage, cut into pieces
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup butter, melted
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions:
Fill a large pot with water and add Old Bay seasoning, salt, and lemons. Bring to a boil.
Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes.
Add corn and sausage, cooking for another 5 minutes.
Add the crabs and cook for 15 minutes or until the crabs are bright red.
Drain the pot and transfer the contents to a large serving platter.
Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot.
